Heal the Children

On October 7, 2023 an atrocity occurred in Southern Israel, immediately and irrevocably changing the lives of the residents of the Israeli border towns forever. The terrorist organization Hamas launched a surprise, murderous attack in which civilians of these residential communities (as well as many others) were systematically brutalized, slaughtered and taken as hostages. These acts of extreme violence and terror have shaken the Jewish world to its very core. Israel is now in a state of war and, as well as those most directly and horrifically affected by the terror attacks, many Israeli families in the South and the North have been displaced and are now living in temporary accommodation. 33 hotels and 7 guest houses in the Tiberias region are housing 15,000 residents, of which 3,000 are children or adolescents from the Southern and Northern border towns. Families have been uprooted and are deeply traumatized. Children have lost family, friends and community, and are affected in ways we cannot even fathom. These children are in critical need of therapeutic help, and this is where YOU can show you care. Heal the Children has been established with the professional guidance of Shlomo Zacks, a licensed psychologist currently working with the evacuees, and it aims to raise funds to provide the children with therapeutic books, games and play equipment to help in their recovery and raise their spirits, during the holiday period and beyond. We are aiming to provide each hotel and guest house (depending of their size and direct needs) with the following: 50 Therapeutic books 50 Therapeutic Game 1, 50 Therapeutic Game 2 10 Lego sets age 0-6 10 Lego sets age 7+ 10 Lego sets 11+ 10 Playmobil sets 10 Magnetic Building Tile sets A PlayStation Extra hand controllers Extra console games Storage boxes These items have been identified by the families and professionals as best-placed for therapeutic play, whilst teens need to be provided with additional entertainment and ways to keep them occupied. We will start by equipping one hotel and then the ultimate goal is to raise for each hotel. We don’t want any child in need to go without.
