Buy Helmets for Soldiers with PTSD

On the morning of October 7th the Re’im base was one of the first to be attacked. This was primarily an intelligence and logistics base, with soldiers who sat at computers or drove delivery trucks. These soldiers don’t have combat experience; they only undergo the very basic training, and just barely know how to fire a rifle.  Suddenly they were awakened by dozens of terrorists firing at them, and found themselves in their pajamas on the frontlines of a war. Despite their circumstances, these soldiers fought bravely, defending the control room and sensitive areas. After thirteen hours and the loss of ten men, they gained back control of the base with all the terrorists eliminated.  In the aftermath, many of the soldiers began to show signs of severe PTSD, primarily due to feeling entirely unprepared and incapable. A new and innovative program under the direction of Colonel Chaim Cohen, Commander of the Northern Gaza Brigade, is helping them heal through empowerment. The program puts these soldiers through the complete combat training, gives them proper combat equipment, and then sends them to guard communities on the Gaza border, or even from inside Gaza.  The program is proving to be a huge success for the recovery of these soldiers.  But, they need our help. In order to feel completely ready and safe, these soldiers need the best tactical helmets. Each one costs $400. So far we supplied 70 for the first cohort.  We need 70 more helmets, for the next graduating unit, at a price of $28,000.
