protective glasses for IDF soldiers
Donors: 351
On Tuesday, February 27, 2024, while the IDF's Tzabar battalion was engaged in house-to-house combat searching for terrorists, entrances to terror tunnels, and innocent hostages in the Zeitoun district of Gaza, a Hamas bomb hidden in one of the houses exploded, killing two commanders, and wounding nine other soldiers, some in a severe manner. Some of the injured soldiers are still fighting for their lives.
Amazingly, despite the wounded soldiers sustaining massive injuries in multiple areas of their bodies, they did not sustain eye injuries due to the protective glasses they were wearing. These protective glasses were purchased privately by the soldiers' families, at the encouragement of their commander, the late Captain Itay Seif, who was tragically was killed in the explosion. Captain Seif was a very dedicated leader who loved the soldiers serving under his command and held the safety of his soldiers with utmost importance. Thanks to his initiative, his soldiers--whose injuries will change their lives forever--have not lost their eyesight.
Considering how well the protective glasses worked, the army is interested in purchasing ordinary protective glasses for the other soldiers in the battalion. In coordination with the Company Sergeant Major, we are raising money for purchasing prescription protective glasses for soldiers who wear glasses, with optical lenses and their personal prescription.
We would like to dedicate the purchase of the prescription protective glasses to the benefit and healing of the injured from the incident:
Itay ben Rachel
Chaim ben Miriam
Yotam ben Zehava
Ariel ben Efrat
Elroi Yinon ben Sigal
Yair ben Naomi Esther
Moshe Aharon ben Leah Beila
Oz Moshe ben Tamar
Itay ben Nurit
We would also like to dedicate the purchase to memorialize and honor the commanders who were killed in the tragic event:
--The Company commander, Major Yiftah Shahar
--The Platoon commander, Captain Itay Seif
