I was there and will be there whenever needed to do my job as best as I can- to stop the bleeding, to perform life-saving procedures, and to bring my wounded soldiers to safety. Those I saved, and those who could not be saved, stay close to my heart. I carry them with me forever.” (L, combat paramedic) Since the onset of the conflict, IDF paramedics have stood unwavering, tirelessly treating and evacuating the wounded amidst the chaos of battle – whether on the front lines on October 7th, protecting our northern borders, or in the thick of combat zones in Gaza. Wherever our brave soldiers fight, a paramedic stands beside them, their silent guardian ensuring that no life is lost unnecessarily. In recent months, IDF paramedics have tended to hundreds of wounded soldiers, often under fire themselves. Their presence has been instrumental in saving lives, setting new records in military medical care, with over 93% of seriously injured soldiers surviving the journey to the hospital – a testament to the skill and dedication of our paramedics. We are Always Beside You (ABY) – the home for IDF paramedics, providing a sanctuary for those who tirelessly care for others. The current conflict has highlighted the urgent need for a dedicated space for IDF paramedics – a place for immediate processing, emotional healing, and ongoing psychological support. Our vision extends beyond the present, to create a supportive community, assist alumni, and honor our fallen heroes. The burden borne by paramedics is immense, and we're here to share the load, providing support throughout their service and beyond. Always Beside You has partnered with mental health organizations to provide workshops enabling combat paramedics to process and recover from traumatic experiences. Our aim is to offer every paramedic a supportive environment to confront their challenges and heal. “After October 7th, I did not allow myself to feel and process. I needed to remain entirely focused in order to be the best paramedic possible in this surreal new reality. The healing workshop provided by ABY gave me a safe space to share my experiences, to legitimize my challenges, and to help me figure out how to return to my old life.” (Eliya, a female combat paramedic) They were there for us.
