Summer Camp for Kids Evacuated from Kiryat Shmona

Thirteen days after the onset of the war, on October 20th, the Israeli government decided to evacuate Kiryat Shmona. At the Orchid Hotel in Tel Aviv, a group of Mothers for Young Children was formed, with the help of Hila, who is a community social worker from the Shahaff Foundation. The purpose of the group is to improve their quality of life during this difficult time. Some children have become more aggressive, and nearly all the children in the mothers' group refuse to leave their hotel rooms after kindergarten. The mothers believe this phobia of open spaces is because the children are not going outside during kindergarten hours. Living in a small hotel room is challenging, especially for families with three young children. Some parents are experiencing relationship problems due to the situation, which in turn affects the children. Additionally, living in Tel Aviv is very expensive, particularly compared to Kiryat Shmona. Some parents are unemployed or have had their working hours reduced because of the situation, making their financial situation even more stressful. A financial contribution towards activities outside the hotel, especially during the summer vacation, would provide significant relief to the parents and improve the children's spirits. The mothers' group is now planning activities for their children during the two months of summer vacation when there are no educational programs at the hotel.
