A few years ago, a small group of friends began gathering for prayers in the Agamim neighborhood of Netanya. What started as a modest minyan has since grown into a warm and diverse community, uniting men, women, children, and the elderly around the values of unconditional love, mutual responsibility, and practical Zionism. In a time when unity is more crucial than ever, the "Orot Agamim" community serves as a beacon of hope and support. Since October 7th, the community has been accompanying families, supporting soldiers, and strengthening the sense of connection and belonging among its members. The community’s rabbi, Rabbi Zohar Yitzhak, is dedicatedly serving in the military, both on the home front and in the northern frontlines, as part of the national effort. Today, despite the neighborhood’s significant growth—home to around 10,000 residents—prayers are held only on Shabbat and holidays in a temporary structure: a small kindergarten that is unsuitable for the community’s spiritual and communal needs. The current space, designed for just 30 children, lacks a women's section, proper restroom facilities, and accessibility for people with disabilities. These limitations highlight the urgent need to establish a permanent, suitable building that will serve as both a spiritual home and a community center for the entire area. The vision for the construction of the "Orot Agamim" synagogue includes: • A respectable and accessible place of prayer for all neighborhood residents and their guests. • A spacious and accessible women’s section, enabling full participation for all community members. • Torah classes and educational activities for all ages. • A community center for social events and communal support. • Proper facilities and full accessibility for all users. After years of working with the authorities, the necessary approvals for land allocation and construction have been obtained. The future synagogue is intended to be more than just a place of prayer—it will serve as a spiritual center that radiates light and unity, a space where life’s most meaningful moments can be celebrated, from a young family's first brit milah to a child’s first aliyah to the Torah. The "Orot Agamim" synagogue will stand as a model for shared living, mutual respect, and unity, with the goal of fostering a strong and thriving community.
