Their Journey – The Girls of 'Beit Keshet' in Poland

Hello, my name is Karen, and I have been the program director of the Beit Keshet Hostel of the Enav NGO for the past six years. I am reaching out to you with a special request that could make a significant change in the lives of our girls. Beit Keshet Hostel is a therapeutic residential program for at-risk girls with cognitive challenges. As part of the empowerment and comprehensive support program we provide, we are planning to take the girls on a first-of-its-kind educational and values-based journey to Poland – a journey uniquely tailored to their specific needs. This journey is much more than a historical visit – it is a unique opportunity for the girls to experience a significant empowerment process, strengthen their sense of belonging and identity, and acquire tools that will help them on their future path. The journey is a central element in strengthening the girls' Jewish-Israeli identity and allows them to feel like an integral part of our national story. For girls dealing with cognitive challenges, this tangible, tailored experience opens a window for a deeper understanding of belonging and history, in a way that textbooks alone cannot provide. To ensure that the girls have this meaningful and empowering experience, the journey has been carefully planned with unique adjustments: an extended accompanying staff, tailored content, and a pace that allows for processing and integrating the experiences. These adjustments, which are essential for the success of the journey, significantly increase its cost. We believe that these girls have the right to experience this formative journey, just like every other boy and girl in Israel, and therefore we are reaching out to you for support. Every contribution, regardless of its size, will bring us closer to realizing this dream and will give the girls an equal opportunity to experience this transformative journey while taking their unique needs into account.
