"Avichai Observatory"

The establishment of the "Avichai Observatory" in Moshav Yafit located in the Jordan Valley named after 1st Sergeant Major (res.) Avichai Amsalem, May Hashem avenge his murder. Avichai was a bright young man full of the joys of life and possessing a clear sense of purpose. His unique sensitivity enabled him to connect with each and every person, regardless of their backgrounds. It was important for Avichai to be active in the community, volunteering at every opportunity . He had diverse hobbies, including travelling the length and breadth of our country and spending time with his family and friends. Avichai fell in the line of dury in the ‘Charvot Barzel’ (Iron Sword) war during a clash with terrorists in the Sderot area, giving his life to protect the people and the country he loved so much. In recognition of his great love for the country and his friends, we are establishing an observatory in Moshav "Yafit", nestled in the Jordan Valley. The observatory will overlook the landscapes of the country and will be an eternal memory for Avichai and his love of people.
