Remembering Hanan - Fulfilling His Dream

Our Hanan was an exceptional person. Outstanding in his studies, sensitive, and loved by everyone. He studied biotechnology at Hadassah College, was about to start working in Dr. Ofra Zidon's research laboratory, and dreamed of continuing to study medicine. Above all, Cיanan was driven by a sense of mission – to find technological and medical solutions that could save lives. He was engaged to Rivka, the love of his life, and full of plans and dreams. The war caught Hanan at the prime of his life. Despite not having a combat profile, he insisted on volunteering to fight in Gaza out of a deep sense of responsibility. On December 17, 2023, Hanan was hit by a Kornet missile and was critically wounded. For two months, he lay in intensive care, with doctors and family fighting in every possible way to save him. But ultimately, a severe fungal infection that attacked his body overcame him, and on February 7, 2024 (28 Shevat 5784), we said goodbye to our beloved Hanan . Hanan's death left a deep void in our hearts, but along with it enormous motivation to continue his path. The laboratory where he was meant to do his final thesis has decided to add new research in his memory and focus specifically on studying fungal infections – the same lethal infection that caused his death. The laboratory, headed by Dr. Ofra Zidon, is set to lead unique research focusing on stem cells to find advanced medical solutions for treating such infections. The study, which will be named after Hanan , focuses on developing medication that will both kill the fungus while causing minimal harm to the body. If such research had succeeded in finding a treatment while Chanan was fighting for his life, he might have survived. We are launching a crowdfunding campaign to accelerate and enhance the research. Shaare Zedek Medical Center has donated a laboratory for developing the research, but we need you to be able to implement and start the project. The research costs are high and include, among other things, purchasing advanced equipment, ongoing operations, and project management. Thanks to you, we will be able to commemorate our Hanan in a way worthy of him, through research and solutions that will forever be to his merit and memory.
