Yali’s Land

A Memorial Project in Honor of Yahli Sharur

Donors: 182

Our beloved Yahli — our angel, our little cub, our brave warrior ❤️ Yahli fell in the line of duty on the 5th of May 3rd, 2025 — during an operational mission as a combat soldier in the elite Yahalom unit. On Friday night, he was asked if he could join a brief operation in Gaza the following Saturday morning. Without hesitation, he said, “I’m in.” When asked if it was hard for him to give up a quiet Saturday morning at home, he replied: “This is meaningful work.” Yahli volunteered to come on Saturday morning and joined an operation in Gaza. During this mission, he was killed by an explosive device planted by terrorists, giving his life in defense of the homeland. Those who knew him understood that love for the land and soil was at the very heart of who he was. He believed deeply in the justice of his path and in his mission as a fighter in a distinguished unit — to protect and serve the State of Israel, for a better future for its citizens, for his family, his team, and the return of the hostages. Yahli was a truly special soul who lit up every space he entered. Anyone who met him would tell you: he was kind, humble, and won over hearts with a single smile. In his short life, he left a deep, unforgettable mark. ⸻ Yahli’s Land Yahli loved people. He loved his friends from home, from the unit, his family — and above all, he loved hosting everyone for joyful gatherings. Every corner of the garden at home bears his touch — shaped, arranged, and made to be a happy place. He enjoyed working with his hands, sweating under the sun, walking through the olive grove, tree by tree, making sure they were healthy and alive. After Yahli fell, we thought about how best to honor his memory. As a boy who loved the land, who valued hard work under the open sky, who cherished the soil on which he grew and where he cultivated fruit trees — it felt only right to commemorate him through the olive grove at his family home in the town of Omer. Throughout his life, Yahli invested countless hours in the yard. Every corner he worked in still bears the imprint of his hands. This memorial project will include the building of an access path, a wooden deck, a firepit, a pergola, a seating area, and solar-powered lighting. The goal of this project — among others — is for people to come and feel the joy and love for the land that was so central to Yahli’s life. We want soldiers, on their way to navigation training, to stop by, sit down, rest, and hear stories from the family about this remarkable young man — about his love of country, his belief in doing what’s right, his pride in his unit, and his unwavering principles. We want his friends to gather, sit, and feel him with them. And we, his family — to have a space where we feel close and connected, a place to speak about him and be with him. A place that embraces and unites the deep roots of our Yahli. A space dedicated solely to him — built by hand, with devotion, and with endless love. ⸻ Our Community We always knew what an incredible person our Yahli was — but during the shiv’ah, the stories we heard still managed to surprise us. The way he touched so many people — with his smile, his helping hand, his sensitivity, his boundless kindness — is the way we will carry forward in life. If each of us adopts even one small trait of Yahli’s, the world will be a better place. Each year on his birthday, we will mark a “Good Deeds Day” in Yahli’s honor. We will end that day sitting together at Yahli’s Land — with those who love him, and with anyone who wants to join and hear a little more about our beloved Yahli. We invite you to be a part of this memorial project for Yahli. With love and gratitude, we pray for the safe return of all the hostages
