Creating a new reality

Every woman deserves to give birth with a sense of safety and autonomy. Every baby deserves to be born into a supportive and loving environment.​The current reality in Israel shows us daily that public birth spaces are under unprecedented strain. Within the vast medical system, many women find themselves at the most sensitive and transformative moment of their lives experiencing helplessness, alienation, and a loss of control—moving between shifting staff rotations without a familiar figure to provide continuous support, while facing an ongoing compromise of their basic right to choose how and at what pace to give birth. The time has come to grow together, join forces, and move into a new phase. That phase begins right here. ​This year, we began dreaming up the creation of The Center for Childbirth, Training, and Implementation. The center is envisioned as the first physical home of its kind in Israel, destined to reshape local birth culture: a community birth center operating alongside a professional training facility and an academic framework dedicated to implementing protocols of empathy and autonomy in childbirth. Yes, we truly believe that the association’s vision and goals will be realized to their fullest potential through the establishment of a physical space. ​The Center's Three Pillars: ​1. Pregnancy and Birth according to the "Midwifery Paradigm": Midwife-led continuity of care. Creating a enveloping system of continuous support and long-term relationships through pregnancy, birth (regardless of the physical birth location), and the postpartum months. This deep connection allows a woman to connect on another level to herself, her soon-to-be-born baby, and her care team—all facilitated through multi-professional teamwork. 2. ​Professional Training: Specialized training for physiological births and community midwifery work, while building supportive, seamless relationships between doctors, midwives, doulas, and other birth professionals. 3. ​Implementation: Establishing a research framework, fostering collaborations with organizations in Israel and globally, and advancing policy change through the National Insurance Institute (specifically, a law to subsidize community-based births). ​For over two decades, the movement for freedom of choice in childbirth has been active on the ground to support women and families, protect rights, and fight against obstetric violence and the violation of women's autonomy over their bodies. We have shifted public consciousness, led systemic battles, and won a landmark Supreme Court case—bringing these issues to the forefront of the public agenda. Now, it is time to take the next big step: not just to talk about change, but to build it.​We aren't waiting for the future - we are building it today.
