The"Homat Shmuel" Congregation is nearing the completion of their Synagogue

Ends: 23:59

Donors: 2328

In the year 2002, 17 years ago, the Homat Shmuel Congregation was founded in the new neighborhood of Har-Homa, located in the southern part of Jerusalem, not far from Kever Rachel. The congregation included only 15 families in the beginning, but today it has grown to 120 families, B"H. It is one of the first and largest congregations in Har-Homa and consists of modern- orthodox religious families who chose to live in the new Jerusalem community. The members of the congregation are of all types and ages, some are lawyers, accountants, doctors, teachers, engineers and others are free-lancers and business men . On every given Shabbath, there are more than 350 people who doven in the temporary hall that is our synagogue for the past ten years. The minyan is actually Ashkenazi but attracts people from all over the neighborhood due to the friendly and warm atmosphere that accepts and welcomes all the guests who choose to join the Minyan. In addition to the daily prayers, there are many Shiurim that take place in the congregation, on a daily basis, including Daf Yomi every morning and Halacha and Parsha on Shabbath. Furthermore, there are many other events within the community, when we gather on Holidays for mutual meals, lectures and performances. Also, many members participate in Hesed programs that take place in the community. In 2015, the members got together enough money through the building fund that was established in order to plan and start building a permanent structure for the congregation. They also succeeded in raising some funds from other donations. Finally, a year ago, the board of the Kehila received a nice sum from one of the members and an additional donation from an outside supporter of the cause, and that brought the project to a point where it is close to the finish. We need now only a minor sum in order to complete the project in a few months and finally have a respectable synagogue to call our own, where 120 families including wives and children can have their own permanent seats and feel a part of the community. With another small effort and your support we can do it ! Anybody who is interested in donating in memory of a family member, can donate 2500 ILS for a standard name tablet on the memory board, or donate 10000 ILS for a large name tablet on the memory board.
