The Elkana Foundation
By World Bnei Akiva
In memory of Eliyos Paz z"l
Donors: 15
On the 19th of Tammuz last year, at a memorial evening in the movement's offices, the "Elkana Fund" in memory of our dear friend Eliyos Paz was established.
Eliyos’s focus in Bnei Akiva was one: true and genuine concern for the disappearing Jews in Germany (of which the majority came from the Soviet Union).
Eliyos did everything in his power (including during his illness) to send shlichim to any and every community, and made sure that any Jew who was thirsty for Judaism found it.
Apart from the shlichim, Eliyos saw utmost importance in bringing chanichim and youth from Germany for a year in Israel and he worked fiercely, in securing their enrollment, even though most of them couldn’t pay the tuition.
In his memory, we founded the “Elkana Foundation”. The purpose of the fund is to provide support to German youth who want to spend a year on a Bnei Akiva program in Israel, but cannot afford tuition.
This is the foundations second year and in it we must raise NIS 170,000 to allow all the chanichim to come for the Bnei Akiva program in 2021.
"The Holy One, blessed be He, said to him: 'Elkana, you have made Israel good before me and you educated them to mitzvot... I will bring a son from you who will make Israel good before me and will teach them mitzvot.'" (Yalkut Shimoni 1)
