Tevel b’Tzedek Covid-19 Prevention Campaign

Please help us help rural villagers in Zambia protect themselves from the Covid-19 virus. As of now, it has not reached the villages so the time to act is NOW before it is too late. Rural villages have little or no access to health care and so their only recourse is to PREVENT. Tevel b’Tzedek has been working with the local health department in Chanyanya, Zambia to implement WASH Awareness campaigns: posters, pamphlets and demonstration sessions to help educate and facilitate proper handwashing, a primary way of preventing the spread of the disease AND install washing stations (water, soap, posters) in markets and other gathering places which currently have no access to water. In the last month and a half we distributed 1500 pamphlets in local dialogue and installed 70 Tippy Tap handwashing stations with soap. Now we are working to help the communities grow and process their own food so that they don't have to rely on the urban centers where COVID-19 is prevalent. To this end, we will: * Distribute kitchen garden kits to 200 families so that they may grow their own vegetables. * Build a local food processing center including oil presses, flour mills, and a fish smoker. * Organize and train youth to support these community initiatives and gain important professional skills. In total, this project will give 4000 villagers access to local sources of food and contribute to their long-term self-sufficiency. We want to help communities be self-sufficient.
