Our Brothers Campaign

The “Our Brothers” Organization was founded in 2017 by bereaved siblings and volunteers, with the goal to create a peer supportive and empowering community for bereaved siblings in Israel. Today, most bereaved parents in Israel are over the age of 75. This realization has strengthened our understanding that bereaved siblings must take an active role in memorializing and internalizing the stories of the fallen- of our siblings. Before Our Brothers was founded, bereaved siblings’ stories were never told on a wide-scale level. The brothers and sisters provide a unique and personal perspective, of comradery and friendship, shared experiences and shared dreams, moments of humor, coping within the family, and living with the title of “Bereaved Sibling”. Since the organization was founded, we have initiated thousands of memory meet-ups, and have introduced an innovative angle of commemoration, hundreds of thousands of people. This year, we insisted that even in times of global crisis it is still imperative to remember the fallen; we founded the “Connect2Care” initiative that became a national enterprise and connected people from every corner of Israel and the world, to bereavement and to Yom Hazikaron. And now, so that we can keep going- we need you with us. Today we have hundreds of bereaved brothers and sisters who are joining our supportive, strong, and empowering community, a community that spreads meaning, love and hope throughout our country. Our Future Plans: 1. Monthly community meet-ups in an inclusive environment, including hikes and workshops 2. Personal and professional life counseling for brothers and sisters 3. Establishing versatile digital memory platforms for the younger generation 4. Partnership with educational institutions, to provide information and guidance on the subject of bereaved brothers and sisters 5. Increase memorial meet-ups to 5,000 meet-ups in 2021 and hosting community meet-ups year-round, and not only on Yom Hazikaron 6. Restoring photo albums for the older generations for commemoration
