Emergency Aid for Victims of Domestic Violence

In the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak, the media report a rise in domestic violence incidents in Israel and our shelter is anticipating a surge in referrals. At the same time, it is extremely difficult to comply with hygiene and social distancing guidelines in the close quarters of the shelter, resulting in an increased risk of infection. The women served by our program are experiencing a crisis within a crisis and more than ever require a professional response to help them deal with both the trauma of violence and the stresses inherent to lockdown and its aftermath. This is true especially of the shelter's young residents, who have barely recovered from the turmoil of relocating from their homes only to now face yet another disruption in their lives.
