Maslan - Together for a safer society

Sexual violence is a painful and difficult social phenomenon which eats away at our society and leaves many scars. Wrongly illustrated beliefs and mistaken myths present the victimized women and men as if they have brought this terrible fate upon themselves, and therefore remove all responsibility from the attacker and from society. Thus, unfortunately, the true root of the problem stays camouflaged. Maslan - The Negev’s Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Support Center- was established 32 years ago in order to provide aid and assistance to victims of domestic violence and their families. Maslan addresses these multiple needs by counseling, aiding, supporting and accompanying the victims in their daily struggles. In order to ease the burden of their struggle, the organization provides many services: an emergency 24/7 support line staffed by volunteers offering support in 8 languages, “Kol Milah” - an on-line support chat, assistance in medical procedures, legal consultation on criminal and civil proceedings, activating a therapeutic unit, holding support groups, and providing group therapy for the victims and their respective families,. Unfortunately, we continue to witness the daily stories of the growing numbers of female and male victims who carry within them scars of their abuse. So, in addition to our other functions, we are actively working to get to the root of the problem by creating societal change. We hold many educational seminars on the subjects of prevention, and provide explanations that promote healthy sexual behavior which is safe and respectful, thus lessening violence and sexual violence in all its respects. The seminars are given to a wide variety of populations, such as youth at risk, kindergarten aged children, special needs people, elderly citizens, armed forces and so on. Since the establishment of Maslan, the organization has provided aid and assistance to tens of thousands of women and men, girls and boys, whose world will never return to the way it was before their victimization. Tens of thousands of victims who have with great courage decided to break their silence and ask for help. During the time of Covid-19, the number of the requests for aid has doubled, and in order to continue providing assistance, we need your help.
