Growing Together

The moment a child is born, along with great joy, also born are fears and anxiety. This everyday worry that they’ll have a good life, that they’ll want for nothing. As parents, there’s nothing we wouldn’t do to help them grow into the best world we can create for them. Every child needs a caressing, guiding, and caring hand and a sense of security. Every child needs a warm and loving home. Every child needs to grow up in peace. For hundreds of thousands of children in Israel today, home is not a safe place but a dangerous, sad, and scary one. For more than 40 years, the Israeli SOS Children’s Villages organization has been working for at-risk children through various programs, including operating children’s villages, "Bridge to Independence" Programs, Daycare centers and more. We also operate an Emergency Center for children aging 3-10 and sometimes even younger, who had to immediately be taken away from their home due to a severe emergency that doesn’t enable them staying at home, not even for another minute. From the moment a child arrives, our only goal is to hold, embrace, protect and make him/her forget, even for a little, the difficult things they experienced in their very young age, which scared their body and soul. Since the outbreak of the Coronavirus, we’ve encountered more and more urgent calls from severe cases coming to our emergency shelter. Now, when the pandemic is in its stages of decay, the difficult situations the children experienced and still are, are exposed, and more children are in need of our services. To provide for more children simultaneously, we’re in the process of renovating and expanding the emergency center and expanding the classrooms and therapeutic space. Your help will enable us to provide a safe place for as many children who need it. Just like our own children, these children too need support, guidance and a chance for a happy present and a brighter future.
