Hike for Hope 2022

In 2005, a group of hikers banded together to explore the most beautiful parts of Israel and at the same time gather donations for Tsad Kadima. This year marks the 18th Hike for Hope, from March 29-31. The hike lasts for two days and includes three different routes on each day: one for challenge hikers, one for “regular” hikers and one for families. The family route has been gaining in popularity as veteran hikers are now accompanied by their grandchildren. Each year the “Hike for Hope” covers different trails, and we usually alternate between hiking in the north and the south of the country. The routes we select are often part of the Israel National Trail, a footpath that winds it's way from Dan, in the northern Galilee, all the way south to Eilat. This year we will skip north to the Golan Trail, at the peak of its spring glory among blossoming flowers, breathtaking views, waterfalls and streams, and archaeology and Jewish heritage sites. Our accommodations will be at a group campsite in Givat Yoav overlooking the Kinneret, in heated huts and tzimmers. The donations collected by the hikers support Tsad Kadima, an award-winning organization dedicated to helping children with cerebral palsy attain their full potential. There are over 300 kids, young adults and adults in regular daily programs throughout Israel, and the numbers continue to grow. You can find young people with cerebral palsy from Tsad Kadima who attend regular schools as well as universities, reside in independent-living apartments, and even serving in the Israeli army. The irony of hiking to raise money for children who can walk only with difficulty gives every hiker a feeling of intense satisfaction.
