Our Future Begins Now Providing Equal Opportunities to Teens in the Periphery and Taking Responsibility for the Tomorrow of Us All We all know the people who have changed, and continue to change, the world. But what about those who could have changed the world if only they had been given a chance to do so? Approximately 750,000 12-17 year-olds live in Israel today. Over half of them are from the geographic and social periphery of the country. Collectively, these teens are our future, But what about those who could have changed the world if only they had been given a chance to do so? All of us in Israel are aware of sharp increases in social and economic disparities, frustrating inequalities, and significant decreases in social cohesion. International indicators also note this alarming trend in the country. For young people from the geographic and socioeconomic periphery, these disparities typically result in fewer opportunities, less socioeconomic mobility, and less ability to realize the tremendous potential that resides within each one of them. Simply put, their starting point was already behind those with better opportunities, and this gap is widening dramatically as time passes. The result of these disparities is of course sad for these teens, but it is also a lost opportunity for all of us. Not only do they not have sufficient opportunity to pursue paths of success for themselves, we all lose the potential benefit that they could have brought to both Israel and all of humanity. It’s morally wrong, and it doesn’t make sense at a collective level either. Each year Unistream changes this reality for thousands of teens from the geographical and social periphery. Together with volunteer mentors from the business community and in cooperation with the leading companies in today's fast-paced economy, Unistream empowers thousands of teens and helps them develop entrepreneurial, innovative and technological thinking, acquire leadership skills, and embark on a life journey fueled by big dreams and bringing about life-changing transformation. Unistream’s success is on display every day among our graduates, who go on to create innovative solutions and bring about tangible, long-term positive changes for society, the country, and the world. But this is not enough. Much more work remains to be done. Imagine what could happen if one more teen was able to participate in Unistream's transformative programs. Or a hundred. Or a thousand. What untold dreams could they make a reality? What unfathomable changes would they create in all of our lives? For every teen who doesn't dare to dream, what future positive development are we all missing out on? We will never know. What is certain: Now, right now, is the time to change both their futures and our future. With your help, we will change the life trajectory of a teen to one of action, leadership, initiative, and ongoing success.
