Child of our own

Family is where life begins, and love never ends. Hi, thank you for your time. Our names are Idmit and Emanuel Shacham. five years ago, at a relatively old age (43 Years), after we thought love would not be part of our lives and having a family seemed like a distant dream, we met each other, fell in love, and got married. We established a home in Israel. Idmit grew up and lived with her family in Eli Sinai from the day the settlement was established until the evacuation of Gush Katif. Today she is working alongside the IDF in the field of education and professional training. Emanuel is a first-generation Holocaust survivor who was born in Israel. IDF reserve officer works at Steimatzky (bookstores) and volunteers regularly to help holocaust survivors with reading, playing chess, and relieving their loneliness. We both dream of a home filled with children’s laughter and lots of love, children that will call us mom and dad. After trying naturally and going through rough fertilization processes, we received the horrible news that Idmit would not be able to carry children, and to save her life she needed to undergo a hysterectomy which led to the loss of her own ovules. Realizing Idmit will not be able to carry a baby caused immense pain and deep sadness. However, we were determined to never give up and continue to believe that when a door closes, God opens a window. Our dream to parenthood was made possible a few months ago by a righteous Jewish woman from Gush Etzion in Israel who is willing to do the ultimate generous act and help us to become a family. This was an incredible miracle as it was important for us that our child will be Jewish, and being in Israel will allow us to take part in the pregnancy process and be supported every step of the way. Surrogacy is an extremely expensive process; naturally, all our savings are invested in it, yet we are still missing a considerable amount of money to make our dream come true. If you have the ability and generosity, you could fulfill one couple's life purpose as we yearn to wake up on Shabbat morning and hear children's laughter.
