There are about 80,000 veterans suffering from military based post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). However, only 8,000 of them are officially recognized and treated by the Israeli Ministry of Defense. We are Shani Sofer and Ohav Givaty, combat veterans who served in the IDF as Navy officers for over 8 years. Throughout our military service as leaders and commanders, we witnessed the crucial and fundamental need of mental health support to those suffering from military PTSD. Upon our discharge from the IDF we decided to take action and create ‘Invisible Album’, which uses music as a medium to create awareness of the invisible injuries our friends suffer from every day. Music has the power to foster identification, break down barriers, and evoke emotional states that inspire action. Our mission is to reach those who need our support and offer it through a first-of-its-kind interface that makes the entire rehabilitation process accessible by removing the bureaucratic barriers that can be extremely discouraging to those who are already in so much pain. Just one month after launching the project in Israel, we have already achieved significant milestones. Our content has received over 8 million views, 40,000 users of the interface, and 300 veterans that have been registered by our interface to a new rehabilitation process. We both volunteer our time, out of passion and a belief that we can, and must, change this reality. Please join our journey and help support the veterans who need us.
