Since 2015, we have developed innovative programs that combine practical teaching methods with cutting-edge academic research, providing students with tools to overcome daily challenges. Our mission is to create opportunities for growth, independence, and self-determination, ensuring every child has the chance to thrive. What is the Benjamin Rothman Emek Yafe Kitchen Project? At our school, we believe in preparing our students - 148 incredible children with learning disabilities and emotional challenges - for independent and meaningful lives. Located in the rural Gilboa region of Israel, our school integrates practical education and life skills to empower every child. The Kitchen Workshop Project is our dream come true: a space where students can learn by doing - cooking, baking, and growing their own food. Designed to resemble both a professional and home kitchen, this project is so much more than cooking classes: Practical Life Skills: Students will gain hands-on experience operating kitchen tools, preparing meals, and working as a team. Education in Action: Applied science and agricultural knowledge come alive as students grow their food and prepare it. Independence & Confidence: Cooking teaches students to care for themselves, fosters a sense of achievement, and provides opportunities to work in kitchens after graduation. In addition to the indoor kitchen, the students will experience an outdoor kitchen-where they can proudly harvest vegetables and prepare meals "from field to plate."
