When our son was 3 years old he was diagnosed with Autism (ASD) and we did everything that we could to support him in the UK. We quickly realised that he would be much better supported in Israel and it was the final catalyst to our move, to get him the expert help and resources that he desperately needed. He is now in a mainstream school in a very small and specialist class where he receives specialized treatments according to his needs provided by a wonderful charity organisation: OTI-the Israeli Autism Association. Especially during times of war, when autistic children’s anxiety is really maximised, OTI provided a life line of support to us and families who desperately needed that assistance and guidance. OTI – established in 1990 - is the most veteran and leading body in Israel with regards to the development and provision of therapeutic and educational programs for children, youth and adults diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, regardless of gender, ethnic/religious background, or place of residence. The organization operates on a broad national scale, from Kiryat Shmona to Eilat, providing support both in routine and during emergency situations (Covid and after October 7th and Am Kelavi Operatino) through an integrated approach across various fields of care, while maintaining flexibility. OTI offers a professional, supportive and loving address for people with autism and their families.
