SHEKEL - Inclusion for People with Disabilities

Shekel is the leading association in Israel for integrating people with special needs into the community. Shekel established and operates a wide array of programs, services and support systems that provide people with disabilities with a continuum of services and equal opportunities, which help them take control and responsibility for their lives and their future. Shekel works in a wide range of areas for the integration of people with special needs in the community: * Housing in the community - operation of over 300 apartments where about 350 tenants with disabilities live full lives as part of the community * Rehabilitation employment - over 1000 are employed in a multi-disability rehabilitation plant in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Petah Tikva and the Modi'in region (Shoham), in supported employment in the free market and rehabilitation programs in the army and professional trainings of NIS. * Shekel College and leisure activities - professional courses, training and enrichment, for about 1500 people with special needs * Tony Elisher Treatment Center - counseling and treatment for people with special needs and their families and guidance of professionals *Accessibility Center - which handles over 400 accessibility projects across the country each year, on a variety of topics: tourism, playgrounds, universities, and more * Long study day programs in special education schools and more.
