The "Kise Matzliach" (Successful Chair) Foundation aims to build a synagogue in Be'er Sheva, Israel, in memory of the IDF soldiers who fell during Operation "Swords of Iron." The synagogue will be named "Mashiv HaRuach" (He Who Causes the Wind to Blow), reflecting the prayer we began reciting at the outbreak of the war and symbolizing our hope to restore spirit to the people of Israel after the trauma we experienced.
The residents of Israel, particularly those in Be'er Sheva and the Gaza envelope, owe an immeasurable debt to the IDF soldiers and honor the memory of those who defended Israel with their lives. Tragically, some made the ultimate sacrifice, leaving our lives as a testament to their memory. Out of profound respect and boundless appreciation, we have decided to establish this synagogue in their honor.
In the prayer hall, near the Holy Ark, there will be a memorial wall displaying the names of all IDF soldiers who fell during the war and their dates of passing. The names and photos (subject to appropriate permissions) will appear on a rotating digital display, with special emphasis on soldiers whose Remembrance Day falls within that week.
The synagogue will be built on a plot of about half an acre, allocated by the Be'er Sheva Municipality. The total built area will be approximately 4,850 square feet, including a prayer hall, a large bomb shelter (about 375 square feet), a study hall, and other necessary facilities. Construction is set to begin soon, God willing, as the building permit plans have received preliminary approval.
"Mashiv HaRuach" will open its doors to all Jews, regardless of their background, age, or affiliation. This stems from our deep belief that we are all equal before God and that the gates of a house of prayer should be open to all. In our synagogue, there will be no assigned seating - everyone is equal, whether they are guests, regulars, occasional worshippers, or those of limited means.
The prayer style at "Mashiv HaRuach" is unique, blending Jerusalem traditions with melodies and liturgical versions from various Sephardic traditions as well as Ashkenazi tunes. The prayers are characterized by their efficiency, without unnecessary prolongation, which particularly appeals to younger congregants. Currently, and for the past three years, prayer services have been held at the home of one of the foundation members, attracting worshippers from neighboring areas as well.
Our vision is rooted in love for the Land of Israel and its inhabitants, without distinction between ethnic groups or viewpoints. God willing, we will hold Torah classes and lectures in this spirit, aiming to reflect the beauty of Judaism and our status as the chosen people, and to create a broad base of identification with traditional values. We see these values as the legacy of the fallen IDF soldiers who defended us without discrimination, regardless of the beliefs, opinions, or affiliations of those they protected.
Our goal is to create a unifying spiritual center that will strengthen the love of Torah, the people, and the land among the broader public. "Mashiv HaRuach" aspires to be a place of inspiration, learning, and prayer, connecting all parts of our people and enhancing our connection to our roots and heritage, while realizing the vision of breathing a spirit of hope and unity into the people of Israel.
By supporting this project, you have the opportunity to contribute to a living memorial that honors fallen heroes, unites diverse communities, and strengthens Jewish identity in Israel. Your donation will help build not just a synagogue, but a beacon of hope and unity for the entire region.
