The Jerusalem Opera began its activities in 2011 with an enthusiastic, initial foray that culminated in a Gala Performance in 2012 – a taste of a vision that aspires to offer its own, unique form of opera experience to Jerusalemites. Its principle aims are to offer high quality opera performances in Jerusalem, to encourage local Jerusalem singers, musicians and artists, as well as Israelis and new immigrants and to provide opportunities for young performers and artists at the beginning of their careers to work and appear on stage together with seasoned and experienced artists. The Jerusalem Opera plans in the future to perform operas on Jewish themes and commission original works.
