Saving the music of Zionism
Zemereshet is a project to preserve the songs that were written and sung from the beginning of Zionism up until the founding of the state. These songs are the beating heart of the Zionist project. They provide our state with a connection to the past that is critical for building its future.
The tunes and words to many of these songs remain only with an increasingly aging population or on very poor recordings that are poorly maintained in different institutions. It is incumbent upon us to reach whatever place we can in order to preserve the soundtrack to the Zionist movement.
Zemereshet is working to create a database of these songs and poems along with information on the composers and singers of those wonderful generations. In addition, we share the sheet music so that anyone can participate in the musical revival. We also work to spread those songs both on the internet and in person.
By donating to Zemereshet, you are connecting yourself to the founders of the Zionist movement. You are helping the survival of the tunes that helped our forebears through good times and bad. So please visit our website (https://www.zemereshet.co.il/index.asp), listen to some golden oldies and help us save and promulgate these songs.
