Amutat Kaima

Established in 2013 on the outskirts of Jerusalem, Amutat Kaima’s mission is to provide both long- and short-term, hands-on therapeutic and educational agricultural experiences. Tapping into nature’s restorative properties, Kaima leads Israel’s social farming network within which education, agriculture, and community intersect to increase personal and environmental value for both the individual and the general population. To date, we have inspired the creation of nine social farms/agricultural initiatives to address the needs of several vulnerable populations, including high school dropouts, young adults seeking alternative national service placement, sexual abuse survivors, former addicts, IDF reservists struggling with PTSD symptoms, people with intellectual disabilities, and others. In the process, we bring the larger community together around environmental stewardship, collective gardening, food justice, and more.
