Yakar Tel Aviv is a religious and social hub of inspiring Judaism, founded in 2007 and led by Rav Chananel Rosen. Yakar's mission is to create a rich Jewish identity for the 21st century that is authentic and accessible to Jews from all backgrounds.
At the heart of Yakar is a vibrant community, housed in its Beit Knesset in North Tel Aviv. It is a warm, non-judgemental religious base to hundreds of families and young professionals from around the world.
Especially as modern Judaism becomes more polarized, many Jews have felt it does not speak to them – at least not in the areas of their lives which matter most. Yakar Tel Aviv aims to battle that disenchantment by creating a viable, nuanced home for Judaism beyond the structure of traditional Jewish institutions, nurturing a creative spiritual world that evolves with its constituents.
Yakar Tel Aviv’s unique approach is illustrated by its diverse range of programming, which includes Shabbat services attracting over 200 people every week, weekly batei midrash, volunteering, and live music and storytelling evenings.
