Beit Midrash for Chayalim

The Beit Midrash for Chayalim serves as a welcoming place for soldiers to explore their Jewish identities, while strengthening bonds with their peers from across the religious and spectrum. What originally began as a handful of soldiers who regularly attended the Open Beit Midrash, has flourished into a weekly program serving 50 regular participants on a weekly basis. The soldiers come together for a shiur taught by Yakar staff and guest lecturers, and a light dinner. The success and buzz surrounding the program is leading to growth in numbers and content: the program will expand to include social panels and lectures relevant to the soldiers’ experiences and Jewish identities.
