Mandalat Halev was founded in Modiin in 2001 as a small volunteering organization that provides a professional guided support group for cancer patients and their families. Over the years, many volunteers joined us assisting and supporting the cause in various ways. Many are professionals of varied body and soul care disciplines, as well as, others in the community, who wished to contribute time and skills to support those who were affected by cancer. The organization is registered as an NGO and is presently supporting around 700 patients and their families by its 500 volunteers. Our vision: To improve the quality of life of people coping with cancer, as well as their families, by providing physical and mental support and various services. All our services are provided by professional volunteers in the community. Therefore, everyone in the family receives our services. A cancer patient keeps coping with different challenges during illness and recovery. We keep taking care of our people as long as they need us. All services are provided for free. We train our volunteers alongside the people who confront a terrible and devastating disease. Our services: Guided Support Groups for children and adults, Personal supplemental treatments for body and spirit, Phone Support, Emotional therapy, Home visits, Diverse enrichment activities, Daily life assistance, Volunteers training, additional social activities. All the resources, activities and services are based on knowledge, commitment and time dedicated by our volunteers. Financial support mainly comes from individual contributions and donations. Volunteers recruiting is done through social media and personal connections among the community. Our staff is comprised of 500 volunteer specialists from the full spectrum of coaching, para-medical and supplementary treatment fields. All our volunteers receive training in the fields of Cancer, Interpersonal Communication, and different aspects of the disease. Some of our volunteers are cancer survivors who received services from “Mandalat Halev” in the past. Collaboration and community connection: “Mandalat Halev” works within the community, for the community. We collaborate with : Social services department in Modiin municipality, The Lions, Medical constitutions, Other voluntary organizations, Senior citizens, Schools and parents associations.
