Arabic Language and Culture Festival

Join us in promoting Arabic language teaching in Israel, and to honor the memory of Yohanan Elihai! On Thursday and Friday, June 15-16, 2023, an Arabic language and culture festival will be held at the First Station in Jerusalem, for the second year in a row. The festival aims to expose the participants to the rich and diverse world of Arabic language studies in Israel and to a young and contemporary Arab culture. The best Arabic teachers will give sample lessons to the general public, Muzi Raps will take the main stage on Thursday evening for a bouncy performance of biting Arabic rap, the Al-Mahbash Theater will present the heartbreaking play "Abdu", there will be a special screening of the film "Personal Matters". Following, film critic Samah Bassol will talk to the audience about contemporary Palestinian cinema. A book fair and teaching aids for the Arabic language will be held throughout the hours of the event, a special area for guided practice of Arabic conversation and Hebrew-Arabic language exchange will be available to the participants alongside lectures, workshops, dabka dances and more. The festival is being held in memory of Yohanan Elihai, on the three-year anniversary of his death. It is open to everyone with free entry!
