GIVE THEM THE TASTE OF HOME

Sometimes the oldest clichés are filled with the most truth. The best gift is something that someone needs but cannot get for themselves. After over 6 months, risking their lives for us in the cold, wet battle fields in Gaza and on the Lebanese border, our soldiers are getting burnt out. They dream of going home and being with the family and friends they dearly miss. The hardest day is Shabbat – in Israel a day when families get together for a festive meal. The first Shabbat of the war both Ascent and Yad Ezra received requests from IDF units to provide meals for a few hundred soldiers. Since then demand has grown and we have joined forces to provide 16,000 delicious meals every week, prepared with love in our kitchens in Tsfat and Mea Shearim. Every minute of the three courses is savored. When you give an IDF soldier a Shabbat meal for $10 you are not merely giving them challah, salads, fish and meat. You are giving them a taste of home and a reminder that someone cares about them. You are giving them the strength to get through the next week and to continue to defend us. Our generous donors have given an average of $160,000 per week to provide 16,000 meals to 8000.soldiers At the beginning of the war, the Nation of Israel and our Christian brothers were united and giving to Israel like they never gave before, but as the war has dragged on it has become difficult for even the most generous to continue to give at the same level. But now we are struggling to raise the needed funds and will be forced to stop if we do not find new donors soon. The war has not ended…Our soldiers need us!
