Feb 2024: Kibbutz Saad is located about 3.5 km (a bit over 2 miles) from the Gaza Strip. During periods of unrest in our area, we are instructed to remain within 7 seconds of a bomb-proof room or shelter. Unrest or not, life goes on; in our area women must frequently cope with the anxiety of going to the Mikveh during such a situation, even though it has no sheltered space. On such evenings, a Mikveh visit becomes an intimidating and even frightening experience for both the women and the attendant. Women sometimes even decide to postpone their tvila for a later, safer date. Obviously, this is a situation which calls for change – in the form of a bomb-proof Mikveh. During the current war being waged in Israel, many couples are repeatedly confronted with challenges involving Taharat HaMishpacha. The husband who has been away at war for weeks, is released for a short visit – at a time when marital relations are forbidden. Obviously this is extremely difficult for many couples. We feel that now, especially, we must do all that we can to support this important Mitzvah. Upon their return to Saad and the area, women deserve to enjoy a pleasant, and especially safe, Mikveh experience for the benefit of Taharat HaMishpacha and Shalom Bayit. Following technical evaluation of the existing Mikveh by building professionals, it has been determined that the addition of thick walls and ceiling or other such proposed solutions is unfeasible. The current Mikveh is in a very old structure; furthermore, its plumbing and heating systems are no longer reliable. For this reason, we are raising money to build a bomb-proof Mikveh to serve the women of Saad and other kibbutzim in the area. The goal of this campaign is $390,000. Should you wish to partner with our community for this project, we would greatly appreciate your support. Donations can be made through this link to a dedicated account. With your contribution, please mention as a comment: "Mikveh Project". Every donation will be appreciated and used exclusively for this purpose.
