The donation amount is half the 2024 shekel The amount of the male donation for half the shekel 2024 TSHFAD is about NIS 30 per person in the family.A source in the Torah in memory of the half shekel: (Parashat Shemot chapter 3, verse 13) "This will give all the past on the commandments half the shekel in the holy shekel twenty gara the shekel half the shekel a contribution to the Lord". It is customary to give a donation in memory of the 'half shekel' that they used to give in our temples that will soon be built in our days - Amen! In the month of Adar for the sake of the public sacrifices and nowadays it is customary to give to the decent poor (Shr't Skav) and some write that it is possible to give to churches and yeshivos for the study of the Holy Torah which are considered to be a small temple and most of them are really decent poor. And the best time they used to give charity - before the minachah prayer of the Easter fast and you can also give in advance a month! So that the charity joins the fasting for the village (M2 Tarsad, 4; 28, 22).Some used to give three halves of the coin, as opposed to the three times it is said 'donation' in Parashat Shekels (Rama Tarzad, 1). And some used to give one coin. Some used to give half of the accepted currency in that place (Kshu'a Megillah Kama, 5), nowadays the common currency is a shekel, and if so according to this custom three half shekels should be given. And some practice giving a value of half the shekel as it was in their days. It was the equivalent of pure silver weighing 9.6 grams - and there are several methods for this as well (Khachh Tarzad, 20). And all the customs are kosher, because some say that today the temple's main thing is charity, and he who adds to charity will receive a blessing.
