lone soldiers in Kibbutz Lavi

Hello all We are a group of lone soldiers that are going to call Kibbutz Lavi our home for the next couple of years. We are drafting through Garin Tzabar, an organization made to assist lone soldiers through all aspects of army life. Kibbutz Lavi has been hosting lone soldiers for 15 years, and we are one of the biggest groups coming in to live on the kibbutz. At the start of our process, in our “absorption period”, we will be living on the kibbutz for four months straight, everyday, with an intense schedule packed with ulpan, training, activities and more. After that, when we draft, Lavi will be the home away from home that we’re returning to and sleeping in during breaks from the army. Our incoming garin is 24 soldiers, and we will need the space to accommodate. For now and until we draft, we have the original clubhouse, a space of 35 square meters (376 square feet). We will use this clubhouse’s kitchen to cook our meals, but due to our size we must take them across the kibbutz to eat them in a larger building. The kibbutz has provided a larger space that we will start renovations on after our draft that will provide us with the proper room and comfort. The renovation would include work on demolition, electricity, flooring, plumbing, tile work, painting and putting in a kitchen. We as soldiers will need this home for eating Shabbat meals, making food, relaxing and connecting with each other. We need a comfortable space so we can recharge and serve Am Yisrael with our minds and bodies to the best we can.
