ERAN is a lifesaving volunteer organization that provides mental health first-aid to all residents of Israel in emotional distress, by telephone 1201 and online via chat & WhatsApp, free of charge, anonymously and confidentially. A person in crisis, mental distress, or contemplating suicide, will find in ERAN a reassuring ear. ERAN's mission is to "be there" for all people in need 24 hours a day all year round. Since the beginning of "Iron Swards" war, our emergency lines have received Tens ofthousands distress calls. During the first week, we dealt with over 3,000 calls a day (before October 7th the average was about 800 calls a day). Thousands of children, women and men who need support, a listening voice, a shoulder to lean on, and assistance in dealing have come to us for Emotional help and support. Our callers described feelings of trauma and severe mental distress. Along with helping the thousands of Israelis citizens and soldiers, we face the urgent need to help our volunteers who face heartbreaking calls, as do our professional staff. Since the outbreak of the war the emergency centers of ERAN have been opened and operate around the clock. After 6 months of war, the ERAN centers have received over 170,000 distress calls - over the phone and online by Chat, WhatsApp, Forum, mail and more. Another assistance line for Olim-immigrants, in cooperation with The Ministry of Aliyah and Integration, has so far received over 2,800 distress calls in the following languages: Russian, English, French, Spanish, and Amharic. We also opened the hotline of the National Resilience Center in partnership with the Ministry of Health, the National Insurance, and the Israeli Trauma Coalition, over thousands of distress calls have been received of which over 50% have been to orient to further treatment for anxiety and trauma. In such a reality, we must finance the expansion of the communications infrastructure to enable a response to all inquiries, purchase equipment for volunteers whose activities have been moved to their homes and, above all, expand the association's activities by adding branches that can receive and initiate as soon as possible new volunteers who wish help any Israeli in mental distress.
