Promoting human rights of people with disabilities in war. Because this is the struggle of all of us. The events of October 7 and the war that followed have profoundly shaken our lives in countless ways. In the aftermath, more than one and a half million people with disabilities have faced unprecedented challenges. In addition, tens of thousands of individuals who were injured during the conflict have been left with physical or mental disabilities, some of which will last for the rest of their lives. The war has significantly expanded the circle of people living with disabilities, bringing them into sharper focus within both the public sphere and Israeli society. If you pause to think about it, most of us know someone—either directly or through a friend—who lives with a disability. For over 30 years, the Bizchut organization has been at the forefront of advocating for the human rights of people with disabilities in Israel, working tirelessly across all areas of life to ensure their rights are upheld and their voices heard.People with disabilities are an integral and essential part of society. The fight for their rights is not only their fight but ours as well, as we all strive toward a more just, equal, and reformed society. As in every challenge we face, Bizchut is actively working to protect and promote the rights of people with disabilities during this war. Since the conflict began, we have been engaged both in advocating for policy changes and directly supporting individuals in the field. But we cannot continue this vital work without your support! Your donation will help us: • Continue to advocate for emergency regulations under the Law on Equal Rights of Persons with Disabilities, ensuring that people with disabilities are fully protected in times of crisis. • Fight for legal measures that guarantee people with hearing disabilities have timely access to protected spaces, including an accessible red warning system tailored to their specific needs. • Ensure that every person with a disability receives the immediate support they need in emergencies by promoting the role of a "community supporter"—a dedicated individual responsible for coordinating essential services like equipment, food, medicine, communication with authorities, and ensuring priority evacuation for people with disabilities. • Work to reduce waiting times for mental health treatments so that individuals with mental disabilities can access the services they are entitled to in a timely manner, especially in the wake of the increasing demand for mental health support caused by the war. • Work to reduce waiting times for mental health treatments so that individuals with mental disabilities can access the services they are entitled to in a timely manner, especially in the wake of the increasing demand for mental health support caused by the war. • Continue pushing for comprehensive, principled care that upholds and protects the rights of people with disabilities across all aspects of their lives. Bizchut. Human rights of people with disabilities are promoted even in war. Because this struggle is the struggle of all of us for a more inclusive, equal and just society. Support us. Donate Now
