Early Childhood Therapy Project in Ma'alot-Tarshiha

The "Early Childhood Therapy Project in Ma'alot-Tarshiha" was established during the Iron Swords War by expert psychologists specializing in trauma treatment for children and early childhood. The project was launched to provide immediate support to children in the city who had experienced traumatic events. Young children are highly vulnerable to the effects of traumatic events. Such experiences overwhelm them with intense emotions and sensations, making it difficult for them to make sense of, express, or process these feelings without assistance. We believe that young children rely on their parents to help them cope with traumatic emotions and events. The project provides therapy for families with young children, with a special focus on early childhood. The intervention aims to empower parents and strengthen the child's sense of security in their parent when dealing with trauma. It encourages open conversations about the traumatic experience and the difficult emotions that accompany it, serving as a resilience factor in the child's recovery. The approach highlights children’s natural ability to heal when they can rely on their parents as a secure and supportive base. The project includes more than 100 therapists, and so far, approximately 700 families from the Gaza Envelope, Sderot, and Ofakim have received therapeutic intervention.
