“Avir": A Space to Breathe and Heal for Hostages' Families Since October 7th, families of hostages have been living an unimaginable reality. Parents, siblings, children, and spouses—both of those who have returned and those still in captivity—have devoted themselves entirely to the fight for their loved ones. Many have survived the massacre, suffered profound loss, and put their own healing on hold.
The path forward is long and enduring, and we are committed to walking it with them.
A Space to Breathe and HealTo offer these families a space where they can regain their strength, we have created therapeutic retreats on the peaceful island of Pilion, Greece—a place where they can step away from the relentless pressure and begin to heal.
Each retreat provides:
• Professional trauma therapy with leading specialists
• A community of support
among those who share this journey
• Renewal and strength to continue standing for their loved ones
The impact of these retreats has been profound. As one participant, a bereaved sibling from the Nova Festival, shared:
"Disconnecting and completely cleansing from life here in Israel was necessary in order to touch the wounds a little deeper, without being caught up in the daily routine."
They returned with hope, resilience, and deeper connections.
You Can HelpYou can be part of this healing journey:
• Support – Your donation helps provide trauma therapy and a restorative space for hostage families.
• Share – Help spread awareness about this project so more people can support families on their path to healing.
• Organize - Create a community fundraiser with our guidance and support.
Every contribution is a step toward healing and a fulfillment of our tradition:
"Whoever saves one life is as if they have saved an entire world."
Who We AreThe Shiloni Project is a grassroots initiative founded in the wake of October 7th by Jerusalem-based volunteers who felt compelled to act. Our work has been attentive to the evolving needs of those affected. We operate entirely through donations.
For the implementation of the initiative, we have partnered with the "Mitchabrim" project of the Beit HaTeatron association, which works to strengthen social cohesion and mutual responsibility in Israeli society in response to the events of October 7th.
This initiative is not in the name of the families but in support of them.
