Beyond the Battlefield: Dating and Relationships in the Wake of War

Donors: 6

The events of October 7th and the ongoing war have deeply affected young men and women in Israel, reshaping their approach to dating and relationships in ways that have not yet been fully addressed. While much attention has been given to helping married couples reintegrate, the unique challenges faced by singles—particularly those returning from the front—remain largely overlooked. Through our conversations with kallah teachers, therapists, and community leaders, we have identified pressing concerns that have emerged in the wake of the war: ** Women afraid to date or continue relationships with those recently called to service (who may be called again). ** Soldiers breaking off relationships due to their experiences in combat. ** Injured soldiers struggling with questions of self-worth, who they will marry, and future sexuality and fertility. ** Survivors grappling with guilt, trauma, and emotional overload that hinder dating. ** Uncertainty in recognizing trauma-related behaviors in potential partners (such as whether having a hard time waking is an early sign of PTSD) causing women to hesitate dating soldiers. Conference Goals and Impact The Eden Center is hosting a conference to shed light on these challenges, foster essential discussions, and provide practical tools for young singles, families, and professionals. We invite you to join us in this crucial and groundbreaking initiative that will address the profound effects of war and trauma on dating and relationships and help guide singles toward strong, healthy relationships and resilient marriages, ensuring that those affected by war receive the support they need. Opportunities for Sponsorship* Your generous support will help us bring experts, therapists, and community leaders together to create a meaningful, transformative event.
