Captain Rebecca Henrietta Johanna Baruch, bless her memory - a lone soldier who immigrated from the Netherlands as part of the Garin Tzabar program to enlist in the army, served as a fighter and officer in the Combat Collection Corps and died during her reserve service. We, the 12th grade from Kibbutz Ma'ale Gilboa, together with the "Ach Gadol" organization and with the support of her parents and family, took it upon ourselves to establish a memorial site, a lookout where we hope to express what she wrote in her will: "Let people know who I was. Please talk and listen and sing and hear" On the day the Iron Swords War broke out, Rebecca was in Israel. After realizing her unit was not being mobilized, she found another unit and enlisted in it with full force. During her reserve service, she felt unwell and was hospitalized, and after about two weeks of struggle, she died of a brain infection at the age of 24. Her organs were donated and saved the lives of four people. “Here I am; send me.” was the phrase that characterized and accompanied Rebecca throughout her life, volunteering in the youth movement, her immigration to Israel, her military service and her private life. We need your help to build the observatory, which overlooks the western side of Mount Gilboa. A place of commemoration and connection, education and depth in front of the landscape of our country that Rebecca loved so much. In order to make this happen, we would be happy to have your help and contribution.
