Soroka Medical Center – The Beating Heart of the South Located in a region that spans 63% of Israel’s territory, Soroka is the only hospital in southern Israel operating at the level of a university medical center. But Soroka is more than just a hospital. It is the center of life, hope, healing, and rehabilitation for over a million Israelis – Jews, Bedouins, new immigrants, soldiers, and newborns – all are treated here. There is no substitute within hundreds of kilometers. The next nearest hospital in the south, Yoseftal, simply cannot provide comparable care. And then – a direct hit to the heart of the South. During the recent missile attack on Israel, Soroka suffered a direct hit. Entire departments were damaged, critical systems impaired – and yet, the medical teams stayed. They continue to care for patients. Yes, even when departments became unusable. Even when infrastructure was compromised. Even when their own lives were at risk.
