Members of the Friends of Soroka take many initiatives upon themselves all of which aim to ensure that Soroka offers professional medical services of the highest standards to the citizens of the Negev and to the IDF soldiers who serve in the South of Israel and on the southern front.
All of this work is done on a completely voluntary basis. Since the establishment of the association in 1988
The generous donations of the residents of the Negev, the business and industrial sectors, the workers’ unions, friends and donors who believe in our mission enabled us to purchase essential equipment and fund vital projects for the hospital, helping to bridge the gap between the level of healthcare in the center of Israel and that in the South.
We hold two main funds raising every year:
Annual fundraising Event: The purpose of the event to raise funds for the purchase of equipment and modern medical equipment and improving the quality of hospital care and specific hospital divisions.
Operation Honey for Rosh Hashana: We sell jars of honey and the proceeds go towards purchasing essential tools in the hospital.
Over the last years, the Friends of Soroka focused on many projects among them:
Reconstructing and upgrading the Cardiology Department
A new and completely protected (safe from missile fire) Neonatal Unit
Purchasing advanced equipment for the Neurosurgery Department
Reconstructing and upgrading the Paediatrics Department
Ppurchase state of- the-art medical equipment for various hospital departments
Equipping the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department
Equipping the Cardiothoracic Surgery Department
Equipping the Intensive Care Unit
Soroka Medical Centre is in a rapid process of expansion, upgrading of the Radiotherapy Unit, building a new Pediatric Ophthalmology, new Neonatal Care Center protected against rocket attacks, New Emergency department. Rehabilitation Center. Center for Clinical Research, Preimplantation Genetic Testing unit and a lot more.
