Nir Oz is the kibbutz that was hit the hardest in the October 7 attack. With the exception of six buildings, the terrorists targeted all the houses on the kibbutz, and many of them were completely burned down. Recently, a new neighborhood has begun to be built using donated funds and this is actually the first step in the reconstruction of Kibbutz Nir Oz, most of which will be rebuilt. Following the moving meeting with captivity survivor Gadi Mozes, members of Kibbutz Meirav are volunteering to help and contribute their share to the national effort to reconstruct Nir Oz
