Support the 48ers: A basketball program promoting education, equality, and unity for youth in Israel

My name is Jake Villani, and for my Bar Mitzvah, I chose to support a cause that means a lot to me – using basketball as a way to make a difference. As many of you know, I love playing basketball. For my Bar Mitzvah project, I partnered with The Equalizer and their 48ers program, which brings basketball and education to kids in under-resourced areas across Israel. Through this project, I’m helping sponsor a team so that kids – many of whom are facing real challenges – can experience the same joy, teamwork, and life lessons that basketball has given me. What inspires me most about this program is that it’s not just about the game. It’s about building connections between kids from different backgrounds, promoting equality, and offering a safe and supportive space to grow.
