Bring Light to Someone in Darkness

As Israel heals, help make sure no one falls alone.

Israel is facing a severe mental-health wave: 56% of those receiving support in recent months are coping with psychological trauma, and 31,000 Israelis are living with PTSD. Israel is entering a complex stage: the difficult transition back to everyday life. As people affected by trauma related to service try to go back to their lives, the hidden wounds are only now beginning to surface. Trauma. Silence. Sleepless nights. The moments where a person feels they can no longer carry the weight. A recent study shows that when one person dies by suicide, up to 135 people in their circle are directly affected. Entire families and communities feel the impact. This is where MOSHE steps in. MOSHE is Israel’s first community-based suicide-prevention organization. Our trained volunteers walk into the darkest moments and build an immediate circle of support around anyone at suicide risk so no one is ever left alone. MOSHE has just received a national Certificate of Appreciation from the Knesset Committee for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention, recognizing MOSHE’s life-saving work and the impact of our volunteer network. The Need Has Exploded • Suicide attempts and deaths among those in service have risen sharply since the war • Families are breaking under the stress of long months of service • Recently discharged reservists are returning home with deep emotional scars • Israel’s mental-health system is overwhelmed and unable to keep up Community support has become the lifeline. A Real Story: Gilad Situation: Gilad, 42, father of four. A reservist with extended periods under extreme stress, returned home with PTSD, depression, & suicidal thoughts. Intervention: MOSHE held a single-session intervention, identified the level of risk, and mobilized support around him. Safety Plan: He entered therapy, and his family and community learned how to support him safely. Outcome: Five months later, he is more stable, in treatment, and on the path to recovery. This Chanukah: Bring Light to Someone in DarknessYour support helps us: • Train more volunteers to support soldiers, survivors and families in crisis • Respond faster to urgent cases, high-risk cases • Build resilience in communities across Israel • Make sure no one goes through a suicidal crisis alone Our goal: $150,000 to expand our team and reach thousands more in the coming year. 🕯️Light a candle. Save a life. Bring light to someone in darkness.
