Help Rebuild Israeli Lives

Dear friends, In July and August, 2025 we volunteered in Israel with Lev Echad (One Heart), a civilian response organization since 2005. One Heart mobilizes hundreds of thousands of volunteers in times of emergency and crisis, in Israel and worldwide. We arrived after the Iranian missile attacks on civilian areas caused massive destruction, injuries and death, and displaced more than 200,000 Israelis from the north, the south, and throughout the country. During this critical time, One Heart played a huge, essential role as emergency responders were stretched thin across multiple crisis zones. One Heart volunteers worked alongside first responders, municipal authorities, hospitals, and local communities, staying on site to provide ongoing assistance to those affected. We worked with many families forced from bomb-damaged homes and apartments, helped pack up a temporary kindergarten for displaced kibbutz children, and assisted returning members of a kibbutz in the south. The strength, courage, and resilience of the many people we met cannot be put into words. TODAY, the human emergency in Israel remains massive and ongoing. Tens of thousands of families, including not only the southern and northern border communities, are still displaced or slowly returning to damaged homes, while many struggle to rebuild lives disrupted by trauma, financial loss, and prolonged uncertainty. So many businesses barely survive or have closed. Soldiers and reservists are returning to families under strain, and countless survivors of terror struggle to cope with emotional trauma. One Heart works 24/7 across Israel, providing food and essential supplies, supporting displaced and returning families, assisting soldiers and their loved ones, and stepping in where formal systems cannot meet every need. At the same time, One Heart is training volunteers and strengthening rapid-response networks to ensure Israel is prepared for whatever comes next. What One Heart does cannot be improvised - it depends on preparation, committed volunteers, and the ability to respond quickly when crisis strikes.
