Half Shekel 2026
By Mizpe Rachel Foundation
"A memorial for half a shekel – atonement and giving"
Donors: 21
The half shekel is a positive commandment from the Torah, requiring every Jewish male over the age of 20 to annually donate half a shekel of silver to the Temple (for public sacrifices).
Today, in the absence of a Temple, it is customary to give a sum of money as charity ("Zecher for the half shekel")
before the holiday of Purim, in memory of the original commandment.
This amount changes annually, and in 2026 is estimated at approximately 86-96 NIS per person.
